Yes, here we come again. Coming to a point where we see yet something that made most people turn to each other and say, “What the hell?” Have you read the head line, { YOGA BAN }. Did I see it wrongly or my eyes tricked by some magical spell? I thought of this kind of issues for a long time. Do we need to put ourselves in a situation where they know their argument is debatable and controversial? Are we dim witted fools that cannot be responsible spiritually? Is all these uprising question marks pulling us backwards? The biggest question of them all, did yoga actually converted anyone? They even used words like “corrupt”. As written in the presses and I quote, yoga is hinduism rooted exercise, therefore, muslims practicing it will be corrupted. What a harsh word as if hinduism ever did any bad to Islam. This is a bloody insult to those intelligent muslims that are actually practicing yoga. The truth is, people act crazy in groups. I mean, since you are “earning” government money, why not “do” something to make yourself look like you are “doing” something. Come to think about all the happening in Malaysia, I ask myself about the faith and worth I have in our beloved country. Will our swear, blood and sweat be remembered by the future generations and the present one. It’s like her, loving someone that doesn’t love you back. Should we stay behind or disappear in someone else’s dream. I am as sad as the passing of live through the days. I see people giving up, not running back and not putting enough effort. We should work as a team. Team Malaysia. Yet, inefficiency and laziness breakshe soul of the fighters and strugglers. Where we stand? On a pile of collapsed base? As a nation, we should rebuild our values and cuture towards a modernize world. My home, Malaysia will always be my home. Come on la! People in the states can even accept and elect a black president. People are moving forward. I have seen much disfunctionality in Malaysia. Are we going to let people look down on us? Where are the old and wise? Can we promise the future for our unborn child? Where are we heading? When will us be there? Can we be there in years to come? Or after all, is it just a dream like what I had?

This are a few pictures taken during my trip to penang island. Do you know that Francis Light, the founder of the then Prince of Wales Island has a son, William Light that found Adelaide, Australia? That’s why Penang Island and Adelaide are sisters cities. I need to know more about my own country first. I went to the peranakan museum, E & O hotel and the St. George church. The peranakan museum displays a lot of antiquities and jewellery from the past. It once served as the residence and office of Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee during the 19th century.

We also went to the E & O hotel. From its foundation by the Sarkies brothers in 1885, the E&O was patronised by colonial administrators, planters and the local and international elite. It looks very classical. I’ve checked, the cheapest suite is around rm800 per night. Expensive but I think if I have the money one day, I will come stay for the experience.

For the past 4 days, I’ve spent my days in Penang Island. Indeed, this time our journey is a bit different. For starters, the journey from KL to penang was much faster, maybe because I slept a lot in the car. Secondly, me and my sisters will be the only one visiting my cousin. His mum and mine went to china for a holiday. My father has business appointment at these days. Upon arrival at my cousin, liptee’s house, we are greeted by his 8 months pregnant wife, Jessica. We soon prepare ourselves for dinner as liptee decided to barbecue us beef burgers. After starting making the beef petite, starting the fire and wait for a long time, we finally got our dinner. The beef was incredible but the hi-5 bun loaf was horrible. Never mind, liptee, we will use your new kitchen to make the buns ourselves next time. At night, we went to the seaside, Tanjung Seri Pinang. {To my beloved uncle egg tart, you should have tried his burger, it was legen-wait for it-dary.}

The second day, me and liptee went on our little tour of penang, we went to some heritage sites, like this super old mansion in penang. As we parked our car outside, we quickly turned away as we saw a pack of dogs coming towards the car, I guess the owner doesn’t welcome guest. Then, we went to a peranakan house, some sort of museum, with really classical antiquities. We even visited the st. George’s Church. In between, we went to the jetty there to have lunch. We had a pizza. I loved it plus the fact that it was charcoal baked. The view was splendid as you look out to the big blue ocean. Then, we headed to E & O hotel, one of the oldest hotels in Malaysia. 1885, it was built, with host of special guest, Rudyard Kipling, Charlie Chaplin and much more. After that, we did something everyone should do when they are in penang. We ate penang road’s famous teochew cendhul. We also had char koay theow. Can you imagine my cousin actually posted most of the pictures we took on facebook with his new blackberry right after we snapped it? Later that night, we went to Gurney Plaza. We had starbucks and big apple donuts and followed by a James Bond movie. Life was great except Shurong thinks that we’re growing fat.

On the saturday morning, we went for brunch in a dim sum restaurant and later we went to a few bakery to get some bread. We also got Tao Sah Piah. Awesome. Then, my cousin, I and his wife went to this nasi kandar store named “line clear”. After the nice meal, I actually asked the tauke why is it called line clear. He said, “like this one la.” Liptee invited us to his church’s meeting after that and when the night falls, we spent the whole night looking at pictures and laughing about old times. Eventually, the great penang tour came to an end when we all went to sleep.

We left penang after having the Jockey Road Nasi Lemak. Funny, how emotional this trip was as I really came to feel how lucky and proud I am to be a Malaysian. After a wave of events and reminder, I found where my heart belongs. Good bye, Malaysia, I will come back surely.
